CHICAGO, IL (Thursday, November 18, 2004) -The Chicago Fire, its parent company, AEG, and the Village of Bridgeview today announced that they will hold a ceremonial groundbreaking for Bridgeview's new stadium. The historic event, which will also serve to unveil the new stadium renderings, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 30 at 2:00 p.m. at the site of the Fire's future permanent home on 71st Street and Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview, IL. Construction for Chicagoland's newest world-class sports and entertainment venue will conclude with the grand opening of the stadium, which is scheduled for Spring of 2006.
The 20,000-seat, $70 million stadium will be located at 71st and Harlem on approximately 100 acres. The Fire will be the stadium's primary tenant, and the site will house the team's offices and official training center. AEG will operate and manage the stadium for the Village. The stadium will be a multi-purpose facility, serving as a major concert venue and a resource for the rapidly growing youth soccer communities and the Southland area at large.
