Ice's Preston Makes College Commitment

November 21, 2013 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Indiana Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS- The Indiana Ice announced today that defenseman Michael Preston has committed to playing college hockey at Army following his USHL career. The Army Black Knights are an NCAA Division I member of the Atlantic Hockey Association.

Preston joins team captain Tyler Pham as the second Iceman this week to commit to the West Point, NY institution. This will not be Preston's first time being enrolled at a military academy as he is a graduate of the Culver Military Academy in northern Indiana. Additional Indy alum to play at Army include Jay Clark (05-06) and Mike Hull (05-07).

The Carmel, IN-native has been a strong physical presence on the ice as the second-year defenseman is currently third in the league in penalty minutes (51) after being acquired from the Muskegon Lumberjacks before the 2013-14 season. Through 59 career USHL games, he has recorded five points (G, 4A) while racking up 139 penalty minutes.

Preston and the Indiana Ice are on the road this Friday and Saturday against the Sioux Falls Stampede and Omaha Lancers, respectively. Hockey returns to Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Wednesday (11/27) as Indy hosts the Youngstown Phantoms at 7:05 pm, presented by Simon Malls. The Ice and Radio Disney will also be hosting a free post-game concert featuring artists "Megan & Liz" in the IU Health Entry Pavilion immediately following the game.

Group tickets are now on sale for all 2013-2014 Indiana Ice home games. Flex packages and additional ticket packages are available starting as low as $50. Special 4-game holiday ticket packages are also on sale for a limited time only. For more information, call the Indiana Ice at (317) 925-4423.
