IceMen Take Season Opener In Shootout

The Evansville IceMen made the long trip up to Madison Wisconsin to open the AAHL season against the epansion Madison Ice Muskies. After the 7 hour drive and a 30 minute delay to the start of the game, the teams took the ice.

The IceMen led after the first period, 3-1 after Michael Uvodich opened the season with a goal. Ryan Ford added a pair of goals in the first period.

Madision fought back in the second period. Ryan Ford added another goal to get the hat trick and Micheal Uvodich put in his second of the game, as the period ended in a 5-5 tie.

Madison took the lead early in the third period, before one of the IceMen's newest forwards, John Gevard, tied it up With five minutes left in the period, Bill Vitale for the IceMen got the lead back, before the Ice Muskies tied it up with 1:15 left in the 3rd period, sending the game into overtime.

Both teams skated a scoreless overtime, with some great saves being made by both goaltenders.

After seven scoreless rounds of a shootout, new IceMen defenseman, Dustin Majewski, finally put one past the Ice Muskie goaltender. Marion Passarelli, making his IceMen debut in net, stopped all eight shootout attempts.
