Evansville IceMen News Release

The Evansville IceMen made the long trip up to Battle Creek Michigan on Friday with one thing in mind, WIN. They came out fighting to start the game and ended up cruising to a 10-2 victory in Game One of their AAHL Davidson Cup Semi-Final series.

The IceMen took a 3-2 lead after the first period, with Jed Johnson scoring the first goal of the series and Steve Koich knotting two.

The IceMen put up 4 more goals in the second, holding the Revolution scoreless. Four different players scored for the IceMen in the second, Ryan Ford, TJ Schneider, Jason Gorrie and David Croteau. Former IceMen goaltender, Matt Wagner, was chased from the Battle Creek net at the end of the second.

The third period saw the IceMen play defense most of the period. Jason Gorrie scored his second goal of the game in the third period at 13:38. Gorrie then officially earned the hat trick with his third goal of the night with just over 11 minutes left in the game. With about 8 minutes left in the third, David Croteau put in his second goal of the game to make it 10-2.

IceMen goaltender "BIG" John Dorman made 34 saves in the victory. The two teams will be back on the ice Saturday night for game two of the series.

Monday night will see the first ever AAHL playoff game in Evansville, when Battle Creek comes to Swonder Ice Arena for Game 3 of the series. Game time is 7:30pm.
