Evansville IceMen News Release

Wednesday, July 8th: The Evansville IceMen of the All American Hockey League are excited to announce that the team has formulated and agreed to a working player development agreement with the Ft. Wayne Komets of the International Hockey League for the 2009-2010 season.

This working agreement between the IceMen and the Komets will allow the IceMen to be a direct line of development for players looking to move up in their hockey careers. The IceMen will be allowed to send three contracted players to the Komets training camp. The Komets will also look to the IceMen, over the course of the season, for players to help their team.

IceMen General Manager was thrilled to have finished this agreement. "We have been discussing this for a while now with the Komets management," Rossetti said. "This gives our players a chance to move up and play at a higher level, and I can't think of a better organization to work with then the Komets. Ft. Wayne has also let us know that they would not be looking to raid our team of talent, but they are willing to give some of our guys a chance."

The Ft. Wayne Komets are beginning their 57th season of professional hockey. They have won the IHL's Turner Cup each of the last 2 seasons, and have won 5 Championships over all.

David Franke, Komets General Manager, said about this working agreement, "Talks began almost a year ago regards a working relationship with Evansville and after the IHL league meetings, we thought is made good sense to put this plan into action and start working together. It will be a good place for us to send some guys that we want to keep an eye on for the future."

The Komets will begin their training camp on October 4th, eight days before the IceMen open camp for the second season.
