
Icehawks Sign Rookie Forward Patrosso

PORT HURON, MI - Stan Drulia, head coach and general manager of the Port Huron Icehawks, announced that the team has signed rookie forward Derek Patrosso as they head into two games this weekend. The Icehawks have also waived forward Joel Gasper. Per team policy, details of the deal were not disclosed.
Patrosso (6-1, 192 lbs) joins the Icehawks after participating in training camp with the ECHL Fresno Falcons this fall. He played four seasons with Colorado College in the NCAA, where he averaged 10 points per season. In the 2007-08 season, Patrosso tallied eight points (5g, 3a) in 16 games. Prior to his collegiate career, the forward enjoyed two successful seasons of junior hockey in the United States Hockey League with the Sioux Falls Stampede and the Danville Wings. In the 2003-04 season, he posted 53 points (17g, 36a) in 56 games with Danville.
The 25-year old native of Northville, MI will be with the team this weekend when they take on the Flint Generals in a home-and-home series. The series kicks off Friday with a Hockey Halloween celebration at McMorran Arena. All tickets for the game are buy one, get one free. Kids in costume will be invited to participate in a Halloween parade at center ice. There will be prizes for the top three costumes and participants will receive a treat bag.
