PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks soared to their third consecutive win on Tuesday with a 5-3 triumph over the Bloomington PrairieThunder at McMorran Arena. With the win, the Icehawks jumped into third place in the International Hockey League standings with a 5-5-0-0 record and ten points.

The Icehawks have now won five of their last six games and their last four consecutive games on home ice.

The Icehawks forward line of Jamie Carroll, Jeff Zehr and Nick Lindberg combined for three goals and five assists in the win. Carroll led the way with two goals and an assist, Lindberg notched a goal and an assist and Zehr dished out three assists.

The Icehawks peppered PrairieThunder goalie Scott Fankhouser with 27 shots through the first two periods of play and pulled out to an early 2-0 lead. The tallies included a power play goal from Carroll early in the first period and an even strength goal by Lindberg early in the second period.

Bloomington regained momentum late in the second, however, and battled back with three consecutive goals, including two goals in the second period and a goal by Jon Booras just 27 seconds into the third period to take a 3-2 lead.

Port Huron was not deterred, though, and regained control of the game with three of their own unanswered goals in a span of just over three minutes. Jeremy Tucker tied the game with a power play goal at 7:23 in the third. He extended his point streak to six games with the goal. Just over a minute later, Carroll found the back of the net for his second goal of the night and the game winner. The onslaught continued when Kerry Bowman scored an insurance goal at 10:10 in the period to bring the score 5-3.

The Icehawks outshot Bloomington 39-27 in the victory. Icehawks goalie Larry Sterling stopped 24 of 27 shots he faced, while PrairieThunder goalie Fankhouser made 34 saves on 39 shots.

The Icehawks were 2-5 on the power play, while the PrairieThunder were 0-1.

Port Huron will look to extend their winning streak this weekend when they hit the road to face Bloomington on Friday and the Flint Generals on Saturday. The Icehawks return home on Tuesday, November 18th to sink their talons into the Kalamazoo Wings.
