PORT HURON, MI - The Port Huron Icehawks snapped a three game losing streak on Saturday with a 5-3 victory over the Flint Generals at McMorran Arena.
The win propelled the Icehawks (10-9-0-0) into a tie for second place in the International Hockey League standings with the Kalamazoo Wings. They have 20 points in the standings and sit three points behind the first place Muskegon Lumberjacks. The Generals (5-13-1-1) have now lost their last five consecutive games and remain in last place.

The Icehawks continued to outshoot the Generals in the second period (13-6), but this time it was the Generals who found the back of the net. Kyle Deck beat goalie Larry Sterling at 8:51 in the period to cut the Flint deficit to 2-1. They tied the game several minutes later when Justin DePretis scored on the power play.
Early in the third, Port Huron's Jeff Zehr and Flint's Steve Rymsha traded goals to bring the game to a 3-3 tie. The Icehawks then landed two consecutive goals to put the contest away. Lardner notched his second goal of the night and the game winner at 10:27 in the third period. Just under three minutes later, Derek Merlini added an insurance marker on the power play.
Ian Turner had three assists in the game and Daniel Tetrault had two helpers.
