Spotlight on Zach Josepher #2
Zach comes to the ICEDOGS after playing last season with the National Semi-finalist Suffolk PAL Junior B team. On the ice he is all business but in the locker room, Zach is the first to crack a joke and have a good time.
Q: Tell us a little about your playing background? A: When I was young my mom went and saw the Bean Pot Tournament and thought I should try hockey so I did. I loved spending time on the ice and grew up playing travel hockey. I played for the New York Bobcats Bantam AAA team and then moved up to the New York Applecore Midget AAA before playing last season for the PAL Jr B team.
Q: What is your favorite memory of your playing career so far? A: I will always remember my first junior hockey goal. It was a one timer from the slot against the Connecticut Wolves, top shelf and I still have the puck. Last season we made the Jr B National tournament and into the semi-finals before we lost. That whole tournament and trip was fun and a great experience.
Q: How do you prepare for a game? A: I have a game day routine that I stick to every day. I have to have three egg whites and 2 english muffins and a banana for breakfast. Then I don't eat until three hours before the game. Then I have to eat 2 pieces of grilled chicken and head to the rink. When I get there I put all of my gear on from left to right, tape my stick after I put my pants and skates on. I also put two pieces of tape on the end of my stall. It helps block everything out.
Q: What are your plans after you're done playing Juniors? A: I would like to move on to play Division I hockey in the WCHA. There are a lot of opportunities out there and hopefully I can make one of them work. I think I want to major in Business or Communications and hope to play professionally someday.

NAHL Re-Designs Website
The North American Hockey League has re-designed their website, led by Stu Hackel, Director of Information and Communication. The website will offer improved information on the league and teams.
"We are really proud of our new website and believe it is a big advance in our quest to provide our fans, teams, players and their parents with the most current, accurate and lively information about the NAHL," said league Commissioner and President Michael Santos. "Our fans have come to depend on NAHL.com as their top source of news about the league and this new design is more fan-friendly and contains more features than the old site. We will be rolling out even more new features as the weeks go by. The site is a reflection of our growth and improvement as a league and this is a terrific birthday present for our fans as we celebrate our 30th season of Junior A hockey."
When completed, the website will have improved links between the league statistics provider, pointstreak.com, and live scoring on every league game. Also of interest to fans include the new weekly blog, history and player sections, as well as a multimedia section with special downloads for NAHL fans.
All teams have been asked to submit weekly team updates every Monday, which will ensure NAHL.com is the most efficient way to find information.
Check out the new NAHL.com website and some of the exciting improvements that have already been made.
