IceDiggers head to Ohio for two

Alpena: The Alpena IceDiggers will travel to Mahoning Valley this Friday and Saturday night to take on the first place Phantoms. Both games start at 7:00PM and can be viewed from your computer on the Phantoms website at www.mvpphantoms.com.

Currently Alpena trails Mahoning Valley by five points with the IceDiggers having played two less games then the first place club. Back in mid December the IceDiggers were defeated by the Phantoms by scores of 7-1 and 3-2 in Youngstown.

"As a team are looking forward to the weekend ahead." said head coach Kenny Miller. "We know in order to be successful in the North we are going to have to find a way to win in their building,

The IceDiggers are coming off a 5-4 New Years Eve win over 3rd place Traverse City. Erik Peterson (Alpena MI) and Justin Stadler (Livonia MI) were nominated for North Division player of the week honors. Todd Rudasill (Powell OH) leads the NAHL in scoring with 57 points in 33 games. Drew Pierson (Pleasant Prairie WI) leads the league in power play goals with 12. Veteran Forward Kerry Bence (St. Clair MI) leads Alpena in penalty minutes with 76. Co-Captain Ricardo Yesue (Allen Park MI) scored his 2nd game winning goal of the season in Sundays win.
