
IceDiggers defeat Rangers 5-3

Marquette MI: The Alpena IceDiggers (15-5-1 31pts.) maintained their two point lead in the North division with a 5-3 win tonight in Marquette against the Rangers (9-11-1 19pts.) in front of an announced crowd of 851 at Lakeview arena.
Marquette opened the scoring in the first period and held a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play. In the second period the IceDiggers outscored Marquette 4-1 to take a 4-2 lead after two periods of play. In the 3rd period the Rangers scored to cut Alpena's lead to one before the IceDiggers would add an empty net goal to seal the win with 1:14 to play in regulation.
"I thought we started a little slow tonight, but we battled in the second and was able to score a few goals because of hard work and it paid off." said Head Coach Kenny Miller
The IceDiggers got goals from five different players Drew Pierson (Pleasant Prairie WI), Nolan Craner (Plainwell MI) and Kerry Bence (St. Clair MI), Justin Stadler (Livonia MI) GW and Erik Peterson (Alpena MI).
Assists went to Todd Rudasill (Powell MI) with three, Mike DeGrazia (Novi MI) added two assists while Peterson, Stadler, Craner, Ben Kitzmiller (Lambertville MI) and Chris Hendrickson (Hancock MI) chipped in one assist each.
Mike Jarboe (Grosse Point Park MI) continued to play well earning his seventh win of the season in seven tries making 28 saves on 31 shots.
