IceDiggers defeat Outlaws 4-1 in opener

Blaine MN: The Alpena IceDiggers opened the regular season this afternoon with a 4-1 victory over the North Iowa Outlaws (Central Division) at the Super Schwans Rink in Blaine, MN at the annual NAHL Showcase.

Much like head coach Kenny Miller expected the veteran players led the way today, scoring all four goals. Erik Peterson (Alpena, MI), Todd Rudasill (Powell, OH) and Justin Stadler (Livonia, MI) each had a goal and an assist. While Nolan Craner (Plainwell, MI) registered a goal in the win. Drew Pierson (Pleasant Prairie, WI), Chris Hendrickson (Hancock, MI) and newcomer Austin Seiple (Maumee, OH) all added assists.

Shawn Hunwick (Sterling Hts. MI) recorded his first NAHL victory between the pipes stopping 28 of the 29 shots he faced.

The IceDiggers look to move continue their winning ways when they return to action on Thursday evening at 7:00PM versus the Alexandria Blizzard, the Blizzard defeated the three time Robertson Cup Champion Texas Tornado tonight by a score of 5-3.
