Indianapolis Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, IN-- The Indianapolis Ice announced today that the team has signed defenseman Byron Pool and released defenseman Milan Sejna. Pool, who will wear #23, was originally acquired off waivers from the Corpus Christi Ice Rays and is expected to be in the line-up this weekend when the team hosts Amarillo.

Pool, 27, has played two years of pro hockey almost exclusively with the IceRays. He ended up with the IceRays his rookie season (2000-01) after beginning the year skating in eight games for Monroe of the former WPHL. In 84 career games in Corpus Christi, the stay-at-home defenseman compiled 11 points (2G, 9A) and 186 penalty minutes.

Before turning pro, Pool played four years of NCAA Division-I hockey with the Colgate University Raiders (ECAC) and was a teammate for two seasons with current Iceman Etienne Morin. His four-year numbers with the Raiders included seven points (0G, 7A) and 119 penalty minutes in 76 games.

The Ice plays back to back home games this weekend with the Amarillo Gorillas at 7:00 p.m. Friday's game is at the Pepsi Coliseum and Saturday night's contest is at Conseco Fieldhouse. Fans can purchase tickets for this weekends' games and all individual games at all Ticketmaster locations including select Marsh Supermarkets, Karma Records, select L.S. Ayers and the Pepsi Coliseum and Conseco Fieldhouse box offices, or by calling 239-5151 or online at ticketmaster.com.
