Indiana Ice News Release
INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Ice announced today that defenseman Joshua Jacobs and goaltender Jason Pawloski were named on the 2014 NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings for the 2014 NHL Draft in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Six players with Ice ties were named to the annual ranking list for the NHL Draft. This year's draft will take place at the Wells Fargo Center on June 27-28.
Jacobs cracked the top 50 for North American skaters, landing at 41 on the list of 217 draft-eligible players. Through 76 career games with Indy, the Shelby Township, MI native has recorded 29 points (4G, 25A) from the Ice blue line while registering a +12 plus-minus rating. Earlier this season, he was selected to represent the United States at the World Junior A Challenge where the Americans earned their third consecutive gold medal in the annual tournament.
First-year goaltender Jason Pawloski was the only other active Iceman named on the report, filling in at the 34th spot for North American goaltenders. The Minnesota State University-Mankato commit has seen the lion's share of action in net for Indy, appearing in 26 of 30 games this season. Pawloski currently sits second in the league in wins (17) and posted his first career shutout in late December against the Youngstown Phantoms.
In addition the Jacobs and Pawloski, four Ice alumni and prospects were listed in the scouting report. Former defenseman Rinat Valiev (Kootenay-WHL) and Blake Siebenaler (Niagara-OHL) both made the list while prospects Michael Turner (Cushing Academy-MA) and Mitch Slattery (Hill-Murray-MN) were also included on the report.
Jacobs, Pawloski and the Indiana Ice start a five-game road stretch with a pair of contests this weekend against the Fargo Force. Both contests are set to begin at 8:05 pm.
Indy returns home on Thursday, January 30 for College Night against Team USA from Pan Am Pavilion at 7:05 pm. Fans with a valid college ID will receive $5 admission as well as $1 beer. Must present valid college ID to receive special prices.
