Ice Miners Ready to Hit Road Again

Keystone Ice Miners News Release
CONNELLSVILLE, PA - After a grueling week in Minnesota and a hard four days of practice, the Keystone Ice Miners return to divisional action this weekend with three games in Michigan - two against the first place Soo Eagles, and one against the last place Michigan Warriors.
"We've got three really tough games," said head coach Michael Gershon. "Especially with three [games] in three [nights]." The Ice Miners begin the road trip in Sault St. Marie where the Eagles lead the North Division with 8 points and a 4-2-0 record. Soo's 23 goals as a team are third most among NAHL teams. They went 3-1-0 at the Blaine Showcase.
The Ice Miners went 1-2-1 and Coach Gershon spoke about the emphasis of systems in this week's practices. "We're just making sure everybody understands systems and where they're supposed to be," he said. "We had some breakdowns that got taken advantage of by some really good teams in the Showcase and we just need to tighten things up and make sure everybody's on the same page so we can play as a unit instead of as individuals."
After a 7:30 PM tilt with the Eagles on Friday and a 7:00 start on Saturday, the Ice Miners will finish their Michigan swing in Flint where the Michigan Warriors are still seeking their first win of 2014-15. They have only five goals in four games, the lowest such mark in the league. This weekend will be their first North Division action of the season, with two games against Johnstown before welcoming in the Ice Miners on Sunday at 4:00 pm. Michigan eliminated the Fighting Falcons from the playoffs last year, defeating them 3-1 in the North Division Final Series.
Fans can catch the action of all three weekend games on FASTHockey.com. The "away" feed will carry the Ice Miners play-by-play network. Tickets are on sale for all 27 remaining Ice Miners home games including "opening weekend" against the very same Michigan Warriors on October 4th and 5th at the Ice Mine. Tickets can be purchased online at keystoneiceminershockey.com or by phone at 724-970-6228.
