Keystone Ice Miners News Release

JANESVILLE, WI - The Ice Miners couldn't find an answer for Cullen Munson on Saturday night as he scored three of Janesville's four total goals, including the game-tying and game-winning goals late in the 3rd period as the Jets swept the weekend from Keystone.

Munson scored the game's first goal, 2:13 in as Dan Kucerovy and Kip Hoffman made a nifty passing play to beat Nick Kossoff. It took the Ice Miners only 46 seconds to get even when Niko Coffman's point shot took a strange bounce and landed behind Matt Jurusik. Brendan Jaquay was credited with his third goal of the season. Coffman and Scahill assisted. Keystone grabbed the lead after one when Noah Batis notched a powerplay goal at 19:25, his team leading tenth. Joey Sofo and Austin Romzek added helpers.

The Jets came out strong in the 2nd period and tied it up at 8:12 when Zach Solow took a feed from Rob Marsanico to tie the game at two. Aleksi Ainali added an assist and the score was 2-2 through 40 minutes.

Using the powerplay again, Keystone regained its lead at 6:45 of the third when Reed Scahill netted his first NAHL goal in his 73rd career game. Jacob Coleman and Coffman set him up. Things fell apart for the Ice Miners with just under 5 minutes left when Munson scored a pair of similar looking goals at 15:02 and 17:02 to put the Jets in the lead. Kip Hoffman assisted on both, Alex Smith helped out on the tying marker.

Matt Jurusik got his 14th win, making 22 saves and Nick Kossoff suffered the losses, making 35. The Jets kept a 6 point lead over victorious Soo while the Ice Miners remained in a fourth place tie with Springfield, 16 points out of first place. A home and home with Johntown wraps up the first half schedule with the first game at Cambria County War Memorial on Friday night at 7:00.
