Indiana Ice News Release
HOME AND AWAY: Comparing Indiana's home record to their road record is like night and day as Indiana continues to shine from the "Circle City" and struggle with their battles on the road. The Ice has thrived for the home crowd this season cruising to a 15-4-3 record averaging 3.5 goals per game. However, the story has been quite the opposite on the road as the Ice has struggled with a 7-14-2 record. Their troubles have stemmed from an inability to find the back of the net as they only average 2.5 goals each game, while allowing their opponents to score just over 4.0 goals per game.
FOUR SCORE: Greg Squires' two-point weekend continued his latest scoring streak as the flashy forward has recorded four points (2G, 2A) in his last four appearances. After a slow start in 2006 registering only seven points (1G, 6A), Squires has revamped his game and doubled his scoring output with fourteen points (7G, 7A) through 19 games in 2007.
BEST WESTERN: Indiana welcomes the West Division-leading Omaha Lancers to Indianapolis this weekend for a two-game duel from Pepsi Coliseum. Omaha is on a tear of late as the Lancers have surged through the USHL with an 8-0-2 record in their last ten match-ups as forwards Mark Olver, Matt Thurber, and Patrick Schafer have combined for 46 points (21G, 25A) during that stretch while netminders Drew Palmisano and Michal Valent have registered a 2.55 GAA and .910 save percentage. Omaha remains the only USHL team that Indiana has failed to defeat this season (0-2-0).
PROMO CALENDAR: Friday is "Sherwin Williams Night" when the Indianapolis 500 Festival Princesses will be on hand to sign autographs, take pictures, and promote May's big race...... Saturday is"Vegas Night" presented by Hardee's as the Ice will be giving away a free three day, two night stay (airfare not included) in Las Vegas courtesy of Bluegreen Resorts to 50 lucky fans every 3 minutes after the puck drops at 7 p.m. The Hardee's Chill Girls will also be on hand to debut their 2007 calendar and will have a post-game autograph session.
ICE NOTES: Brian Keane has five points in his last four games (2G, 3A)...Keane has recorded two game-winning goals in only seven appearances with Indiana.....Indiana is 16-2-3 this year when they score first.
ALUMNI UPDATE: Nebraska-Omaha's Eddie Del Grosso (2004-06) recorded a goal and an assist in a two-game series against Bowling Green while teammate Tomas Klempa (2004-05) added two assists....Bemidji State's Travis Winter (2004-05) recorded a goal in a 6-2 exhibition win over the U.S. U-18 National Team.
