WEEKEND RE-CAP: The Ice earned three of a possible four points with a convincing 5-1 win over Cedar Rapids at home on Friday night, before dropping a 4-3 shootout decision Saturday evening in Youngstown, OH against the Phantoms. The line of Daniil Tarasov, Jacob Fallon and Emil Romig combined for eight points (3G, 5A) in Friday's victory, while Jon Gillies turned back 26 shots for his USHL-leading sixth win. Robbie Baillargeon scored a pair of goals on Saturday including the game-tying goal with under a minute to play in regulation to force overtime and eventually the shootout.
ICE'S "RUSSIAN ROCKET": With two goals and an assist on Friday versus Cedar Rapids, forward Daniil Tarasov etched his name in three places in the Ice's all-time record books. His two-goal evening gave him ten multiple goal games for his Ice career which is the new Indiana franchise record and he also moved into fifth all-time in points (92) and second in goals (44). OH CANADA: Forward Sean Kuraly scored a goal and an assist for the U.S. Select Team in their 4-1 victory over Canada East over the weekend in Langley, BC. Team USA plays Sweden Monday night.
TEAM RACKET: Robbie Baillargeon has three goals in his last two games...Daniil Tarasov (2G, 4A) and Jacob Fallon (3G, 3A) have six points in their last four games...Fallon, Emil Romig and Ryan Obuchowski were all an Ice season-best (+4) on Friday night...Obuchowski and Alex Barron each have three points in their last two games...Ian Spencer scored his first goal of the season on Saturday...Indy is a perfect 16/16 on the penalty kill at home...The Ice is 5-0-1 against the Eastern Conference.
FROM THE DORMS: Goaltender Cody Reichard (05-07) won a pair of 2-1 games for Miami over Alaska last weekend...Brian Ferlin (09-11) recorded five points for Cornell in games against Yale and Brown...Kevin Goumas (09-10) and Adam Phillips (09-10) had three-point weekends for UNH and UMass respectively...Max Cook (08-10) notched the game-winning goal for Miami in Saturday's 2-1 victory.
