JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Barracudas Director of Barracudas Ice Girls Michele Wright and Advisor Kim Alexis are proud today to announce the 2003-04 Inaugural Barracudas Ice Girls.
Twenty girls competed for over five hours at Boleros Dancesport on Saturday for the chance to be one of the original 10 Barracudas Ice Girls. The Ice Girls will be a big part of the marketing of the Barracudas this season both on and off the ice.
"These girls are going to help educate Jacksonville on hockey," Alexis said. "In the arena and community, they will help bring enthusiasm and a love for the game."
The Original 10 Barracudas Ice Girls are: Jennifer Francis, Danielle Trudell, Ilene Stands, Darlene Waterous, Fallon Gideon, Abby Peters, Theresa Lim, Lindsey Stewart, Angelia Carter, and Shannon Smith.
"The Ice Girls will dance during the intermissions," Wright said. "They will also be in charge of hospitality, working with the crowd, creating energy for the team, and mingling with the fans."
The Barracudas will open training camp on Monday, October 27th at Skate World from 10:30am - Noon. Training Camp is open to the public. The Barracudas will also play one exhibition game on Saturday, November 1st against the Orlando Seals at the Ice Den at the RDV Sportsplex in Orlando. Face off time is 4:00. The Barracudas kick off their 2003-2004 WHA2 season on the road November 7th in Alabama. The Home Opener Celebration in the brand new 16,000 seat Veteran's Memorial Arena is Friday, November 28th at 7:05 vs. Miami Manatees.
