Kootenay Ice News Release
Cranbrook, B.C. - The Kootenay ICE Hockey Club announced on Tuesday the details for its upcoming ICE Food Drive Night presented by Cranbrook Dodge.
It is scheduled to take place on Friday, November 23 when the ICE host the Red Deer Rebels. This is the second consecutive year for the initiative.
At this year's event, the ICE will be accepting food and cash donations at the game with all donations going to the Cranbrook Food Bank. Those wanting to donate a non-perishable food item can drop it off in the bins located in the mezzanine at Western Financial Place. Cash donations will be accepted as well.
ICE Country will also be able to drop off donations in a Cranbrook Dodge vehicle, which will be located just outside Western Financial Place prior to the game.
"The Cranbrook Food Bank is a great asset to this community, and this time of year is always tough for many families that rely on the services the food bank provides," explained Steve Mercandelli, General Sales Manager with Cranbrook Dodge. "Cranbrook Dodge is proud to team up with the Kootenay ICE and the Cranbrook Food Bank for the ICE Food Drive Night this Friday at the Western Financial Place when the ICE host the Red Deer Rebels."
Representatives from the Cranbrook Food Bank will be on-site to assist those making a donation. All food and cash donations will be weighed and tallied after the game.
In addition, everyone who donates cash or a non-perishable food item at the game will receive a 15% off voucher for a walk-up ticket to the game on Saturday, November 24 when the ICE host the Prince Albert Raiders.
The ICE Food Drive Night presented by Cranbrook Dodge was a big success in 2017, collecting over 3,400 pounds of food during a game on November 25. The goal is to exceed that number this season.
FOOD DRIVE PICK-UP EVENT
For the second consecutive year, the ICE and Cranbrook Dodge are teaming up for the ICE Food Drive Pick-up Event presented by Cranbrook Dodge. The event will take place on Monday, November 26. ICE players, with the help of Cranbrook Dodge, will go door-to-door in different Cranbrook communities collecting food for the Cranbrook Food Bank.
During last year's event, a full truckload of food was collected by ICE players.
ABOUT THE CRANBROOK FOOD BANK
The Cranbrook Food Bank started in 1982 in response to the collapse in the local economy, with the organization run entirely by volunteers.
The food bank gives out 400 hampers per month and helped over 3,600 children and 9,600 people in 2017.
An average of 30,000 pounds of food is given out every month - which includes 3,900 pounds of produce.
This time of year is the busiest for the food bank, with the demand increasing higher as the holidays near. Let's help out those in need and make sure they have a comfortable holiday season.
