Ice fall to Saints

March 29, 2014 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Indiana Ice News Release

Ecstasy turned into travesty for the Indiana Ice as a 2-0 third-period disappeared in a matter of minutes to fall to the defending Clark Cup Champion Dubuque Fighting Saints 3-2 on Saturday.

Brian Pinho and Sam Kurker both tallied goals while Aidan Muir and Matt Roy added to their weekend points totals with one assist each. Jason Pawloski nabbed 24 of 27 shots in the contest, including 12 during the third period alone.

The game looked to be well in hand, controlling a 2-0 lead with just over 13 minutes left in the third period.

That all changed in a big way as a double-minor penalty for roughing resulted in the first of three rapid-fire goals from Dubuque, two from forward Seamus Malone alone. The hosts' scoreboard silence was ended when Shane Eiserman potted a power play goal seven minutes into the final frame.

Malone took over the limelight in the contest as the NHL Draft prospect lit the lamp for the next two scores exactly four minutes apart to bury the Eastern Conference-leading Ice once and for all.

Indy returns to the "Circle City" to close the book on the 2013-14 regular-season home schedule on Wednesday with the first of three contests in the week. The Ice host the Fighting Saints on Wednesday, April 2 for "College Night," presented by Howl at the Moon. The puck is set to drop from Pan Am Pavilion at 7:05 pm.

Bankers Life Fieldhouse will host the 2013-2014 regular-season closer as Indy hosts the Green Bay Gamblers on "Hockey for Heart" night, presented by St.Vincent Heart Center.
