INDIANAPOLIS - The red-hot Indiana Ice have an eye on first place in the Eastern Conference with a three-game week starting at the Youngstown Phantoms on Friday (12/27) and Saturday (12/28) before returning to Bankers Life Fieldhouse on Monday (12/30) against the Muskegon Lumberjacks. All three matches are set to begin at 7:05 pm.
Indy came into the holiday break as one of the hottest teams in the USHL, riding a three-game winning streak with a 12-1-3 record in their past 15 games. The lone loss in the stretch came in a 5-4 road decision against Western Conference powerhouse Sioux Falls Stampede.
Through three of nine contests against Youngstown this season, the Ice has captured five of six possible points with a 2-0-1 record against the Phantoms. Jason Pawloski has been in net for all three games, allowing only four goals with a 1.50 GAA and a .939 save percentage. Defenseman Timothy Shoup leads all Icemen in the season series with four points (2G, 2A).
Indy has seen similar success against Muskegon through three of eight games this season, sporting a 2-0-1 record against the Lumberjacks. Blueliner Austin Kosack's five assists tops all Ice scorers while Pawloski boasts a .943 save percentage and a 1.74 GAA in three matches against the Eastern Conference foe.
Monday night's contest is the annual "Ring in the New Year" game, presented by Reis Nichols Jewelers. One lucky fan will have the opportunity to win a free piece of jewelry, courtesy of Reis Nichols. Fans can also bring in their child's report card with an "A" to receive a free lower-level youth ticket.
