INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Ice announced today that the team has agreed to move out of Pepsi Coliseum on Friday, January 27 and Saturday, January 28 to accommodate events associated with the 2012 Super Bowl. The Ice was scheduled to play the Chicago Steel on Friday and the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Saturday evening.
"We have agreed to move two dates out of Pepsi Coliseum on January 27th and January 28th," said Ice CEO Paul Skjodt. "The difficulty of moving the games mid-season after USHL schedules were completed and with no local alternative, the Ice is losing a home date on the 28th, but we are assisting the NFL in our small way to make sure the Super Bowl and all the events are a resounding success."
The January 27th home date versus the Chicago Steel will be moved to another venue to be determined and season ticket holders will have first priority on tickets for that game. The January 28th home date at Pepsi Coliseum has been moved to Muskegon, MI. All fans, season ticket holders and sponsors affected by the changes will be contacted in the coming weeks on various ticket options.
"The Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee sincerely appreciates the community cooperation of the Indiana Ice and their fans in relocating two of their home games from the Pepsi Coliseum to accommodate a Super Bowl related event," said a spokesman with the Super Bowl Host Committee. "We understand this is an inconvenience and we are truly grateful for your understanding."
