Dashers rush Bluefins 5-3

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA - The Danville Dashers lit the lamp three times in the final period to defeat the Cape Cod Bluefins 5-3 tonight at the Martha's Vineyard Arena.

Darick Ste Marie got the Dashers on the board first but the Bluefins tied the game on the power play. Chris Campanale got his sixth goal of the season at 9:02 from George Nicholes and Brian Yanovitch. Taylor Larsen broke the tie for Cape Cod at 2:44 of the second period from Casey Mignone and Tyler Howe. Danville tied the game at 2 but Campanale scored in the last minute of the period from Matthew Harrington. A shorthanded breakaway almost broke the game open for the Bluefins but the countterush tied the game for the Dashers. Danville took the lead two minutes later on a goal from Billy Hunt and Ryan Stern tallied later in the third period to finalize the score. Home Ice Advantage

(Dayton, Ohio) Tonight's game saw the Danbury Whalers for the second straight night take a lead into the 3rd period, only to come up on the short end of the stick. Both nights Danbury proved that it is a formidable opponent. The Demonz would pull out in the final frame tonight with an 8 to 5 win.

The first period was a defensive battle with both teams' goaltenders turning away quality scoring opportunities? Dayton would take the lead into the first intermission 1- 0.

The Demonz Luke Flicek, scored on the man advantage at 16:55. He was able to carry the puck from the side of the net and put a wrist shot pass the Danbury goaltender.

Both teams had two power-play opportunities each. On both of Danbury's power-plays they were able to control the puck in the Dayton zone for extended periods of time. Only to have the Demonz goalie Jeff Rose turn away all shots he faced.

A cross-checking penalty on Dayton's Mark Pawlowski with 16 seconds left in the period (would carry over into the 2nd period) and prove to be costly. As Danbury would score 50 seconds into the 2nd period on the power-play. Greg Holt goal tied the game at 1-1.

After this the game opened-up, as the Demonz and Whalers scored a combined 5 goals in the 2nd frame, and exchanged leads a couple of times.

Danbury took their first lead (4:16) of the night when Mike Atkinson would tip in a shot from Leland Fidler's shot from inside the blue line.

Dayton would answer at 6:06 on a nice feed from Ahmed Mahfouz to Marcus Pryde who broke through the slot to tie the game at 2 -2.

Dayton increased their lead to 3-2 at 7:17, when Jesse Felton crashed the net and shot it past the Danbury goaltender.

Goals by J. Fraser at 7:43 and B. Taylor at 12:54 would give Danbury a 4-3 lead at the end of two periods.

The 3rd period saw Danbury lose their composure through penalties and Dayton capitalizing on the man advantage and win.

Dayton tied the game 4-4 at 6:45 with the man advantage. Dayton worked the puck in the low slot. Brayden Metz jammed the puck into the net.

At 9:55 Dayton took a 5-4 lead on Peter Cintala's goal as the Demonz swarmed around the dazed Danbury goaltender.

Danbury's Kamil Vavra would tie the game at 5-5 at 12:56 on the man advantage streaking down the left wing and beating the Dayton goalie with a hard wrister.

Just seconds later, as Luke Flicek shot the puck into a partial open net in the low slot, with a series of tic-tac-toe passes at 13:14, as Dayton went ahead for good 6-5.

Dayton added to their lead on two separate power-play goals. Jason Hill at 17:01 and at 17:24 Ahmed Mahfouz closed out the scoring for the evening, and seal the Demonz victory 8-5.

Dayton's next game is Friday, November 30at Cape Cod. The Demonz return home on Friday night December 14th with a 7:35 start time against the Williamsport Outlaws here at Hara Arena.

Sich Scores Four Times in Outlaws Rout of Privateers

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa - Robert Sich and the Williamsport Outlaws entered tonight's matchup with one thing on their minds, to avenge the 8-3 loss the Privateers on Wednesday night in Watertown, NY, and that they did behind a four goal night from Sich.

The Outlaws got on the scoreboard twice in the first period with Sich tallying his first goal at the 1:15 mark from Brett Needham and Mike MacIntyre. Chris LeVeille would score his first of two goals at the 18:44 mark of the period from a pass off the pads from Kevin Cooper to make it 2-0 Outlaws after one period of play.

Williamsport would continue to pile on the goals in the second period when Kevin Cooper labeled one for the back of the net at the 11:29 mark. Matt Smyth and Nathan Oke were credited with the assists on the play.

Chris LeVeille would score his second goal of the game at the 12:34 mark of the period to make it 4-0 in favor of the Outlaws. The assists were credited to Sich and Jeff Winchester.

Sich would follow with his second goal of the night at the 13:05 mark of the period from Martin Moucha to make it 5-0.

Privateers goaltender Matt Anthony would not make it to the end of the second period as he was replaced by back up Peter Dundovich late in the second period.

Martin Moucha would make it 6-0 before the end of the period with a goal from Oke and Trevor Karasiewicz at the 17:30 mark of the period.

Rob Sich would tally his third and fourth goals of the night in the third period of play, with his third coming at the 4:31 mark from Oke and Smyth, and the fourth coming at the 17:06 mark from LeVeille and Oke.

The Outlaws took 9 of the 12 possible points this week and are one point behind the Privateers for second placed in the FHL.
