Quenneville scored his first goal of the night 51 seconds into the game, and the Rayz' Connor Hughes tallied just 27 seconds later to give Corpus an early 2-0 lead. The Rayz then increased their lead to 3-0 two minutes into the second period on Quenneville's second goal of the game.
The Ice Bats got on the scoreboard at 3:19 when Aaron Davis slid a backhand past Brent Zelenewich, but Corpus Christi pulled away in the second half of the game. Quenneville completed his hat trick with a shorthanded goal in the second.
Forward Chris Affinati scored the other Ice Bats goal, but playing their fourth exhibition game in as many days, the Ice Bats were outshot 47-18 for the contest.
Ice Bats Coach Bill McDonald will now pare his roster to 18 early this week. Then the Bats will open regular season play Saturday night at 7:30pm against the defending Northern Conference champion Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at the all-new Chaparral Ice Arena.
