
Hutson Lights the Lamp in OT, Jacks Win 10th Straight at Home

MUSKEGON, Mich. - Lumberjacks forward Quinn Hutson scored the overtime game winner for the Muskegon Lumberjacks as his team swept the Green Bay Gamblers by a final score of 2-to-1 on Sunday, Jan. 16 from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon. Phil Tresca added the only power play goal and starting goaltender Aleksandr Kuleshov backstopped the Lumberjacks with 36 saves as Muskegon secured their 20th win of the season, 10th consecutive home win, and add to their current winning streak of eight games.
1st Period
For the second night in a row, Green Bay drew first blood courtsey of Brody Lamb 4:13 into the opening period. Lamb's 10th goal of the season was assisted by Aaron Brown and Alex Servagno to make it a 1-to-0 lead for the Gamblers.
The Lumberjacks would respond at 9:16 of the first period with a power play goal from Phil Tresca to tie the game 1-to-1. Tresca's team-leading 19th goal of the season was assisted by Jack Williams and Noah Ellis.
Through 20 minutes of action, both teams skated to a 1-to-1 tie.
2nd Period
No team was able to find the back of the net in the middle period despite having plenty of chances.
After two periods of action, both teams were still deadlocked 1-to-1 heading into the final period of regulation.
3rd Period
Just like the second period, both teams could not solve the opposition's netminder.
For the second night in a row, both teams collected one point in the standings and proceeded to sudden death overtime to settle the 1-to-1 game.
Overtime
With just over a minute left in 3-on-3 overtime, Muskegon's Quinn Hutson piped home the game-winning goal in overtime as the Lumberjacks completed the weekend sweep. Tyler Hotson and Noah Ellis picked up assists on Hutson's 18th goal of the season.
With the sweep, the Lumberjacks improve to 20-10-1-2 on the season, collect six points after three wins, earn their 10th home victory, and continue their winning streak to eight consecutive games.
On Deck
The Muskegon Lumberjacks will be summoned back to Mercy Health Arena to continue their five-game homestand as they welcome the Youngstown Phantoms for a pair of games on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 21 and 22, respectively. Both games will start at 7 pm EST from downtown Muskegon.
