Duluth Huskies News Release

Bismarck, ND. - The Huskies continued their tough travel week, as they were back in Bismarck for game two against the Larks.

Jake Combs made his fourth start of the season for the Huskies, while Garrett Yawn was on the bump for the Larks.

Both starters were phenomenal as the game was scoreless until the sixth inning. After Jonathan Vastine worked a leadoff walk and JD Rogers reached on an error, Krisitian Campbell found himself in a vital spot in the game. Campbell hit a hard grounder to the right side of the infield to get himself an RBI single. Two batters later, Joe Vos grounded into a fielder's choice to make it a 2-0 game.

The Larks started to answer back in the bottom of the seventh. With a runner on first and one out, Kaiden Cardoso drilled a double into right field to make it a 2-1 ballgame.

The Huskies kept on adding on insurance runs in the eighth. With a runner on third and two outs, Eddy Rosario lined a single back up the middle to make it a 3-1 game. In the very next inning in the exact same situation, Jonathan Vastine added an RBI onto his line as he legged out an infield single.

The score would remain the same for the rest of the game as the Huskies stole a game from the Larks by a score of 4-1. Jake Combs had his best start of the season throwing six innings of shutout ball. He gave up four hits, walked one batter, and struck out five.

The Huskies were limited to three hits, but the pitching combination of Jake Combs, Michael Hallquist, Isaac Rohde, and Nolan Lebamoff limited Bismarck to only one run

Jake Combs picked up his first win of the season as his record improved to 1-1. Garrett Yawn took the loss as his record drops to 3-3, and Nolan Lebamoff got his third save of the season.

The Huskies are back home tomorrow to take on the Minnesota Mud Puppies at 6:35pm.
