St. John's, NL - The St. John's Edge (20-12) lost in heartbreaking fashion in the final seconds to the Atlantic Division-leading, Halifax Hurricanes (22-10) 116-114. The Edge were down by as many as 17 in the 3rd quarter, but slowly chipped away to tie the game in the final seconds only to fall by a bucket off the fastbreak.
Player Performance
St. John's Edge:
With Carl English taking a night off after putting up 58 points versus the KW Titans on Saturday night, Alex Johnson stepped up with 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Ryan Reid put together a strong game after coming back from an injury with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.
Halifax Hurricanes:
The Hurricanes were led by Billy White and his double-double with 31 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Cliff Clinkscales also put up a double-double of 20 points, 10 assists and 3 rebounds. The third player to reach the 20-point plateau for the Hurricanes was Mike Poole, who also chipped in with 8 rebounds.
Inside the Numbers:
St. John's went 37-for-81 (45.7 percent) from field-goal territory while going 15-for-38 (39.5 percent) of their three-point shots.
The Hurricanes went 44-for-85 (51.8 percent) from field-goal territory while getting 56 points from the paint.
