Aiken Foxhounds News Release

AIKEN, S.C. - Kelly Hunt had four hits, and Bradley Key went 2-for-2 with three RBI as the Aiken Foxhounds (38-41, 16-18) opened a nine-game homestand with a 9-4 victory over the Bradenton Juice (41-36, 17-16) Thursday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. After winning the final two games at league-leading South Georgia, the Foxhounds have now won three-straight.

After a two-run home run by Eddie Kim in the top of the first gave the Juice an early lead, Aiken bounced back with four of their own in the bottom of the inning, albeit with the help of three Juice errors. Key and Hunt both had RBI singles in the frame.

Three more runs in the bottom of the second gave the Hounds a comfortable 7-2 lead. Garth McKinney had a two-run double and Key drove in a run with a sacrifice fly to account for the hosts' scoring.

Al Corbeil's 14th home run of the season in the top of third cut the lead to 7-4 against Aiken starter Steve Dunham.

The Foxhounds would add a single run in both the third and fourth innings to close out the scoring. Andy Lane led off the third with his third homer of the season, and Key drove in his third run with an RBI single in the fourth.

Dunham (7-7) cruised after giving up the long ball in the third, not allowing no runs on just two hits over his final four innings of work. The right-hander pitched seven innings, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out six.

Jesse Krause pitched two hitless innings of relief while striking out four.

Jim O'Malia (3-6) took the loss for the Juice, allowing nine runs, five earned, on ten hits in five innings.

Hunt went 4-for-5 with three runs scored to lead the Hounds 11-hit attack. McKinney had two hits in four at-bats with two RBI.

The Hounds now hold a 7-6 advantage over the Juice in the season series. Aiken and Bradenton will resume their three-game series on Friday night at 7:05 PM at Hernandez Stadium.
