
Hudson Valley Bears Announce Scott Beneke as Head Coach and General Manager

Hudson Valley Bears News Release
The Hudson Valley Bears of the Eastern Professional Hockey League have formally announced that Long Island, New York native Scott Beneke has been named the team's first Head Coach & General Manager. Mr. Beneke is a fifteen year veteran of minor professional hockey who most recently coached the Valley Forge Freedom in the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League.
Coach Beneke also announced the following additions to his hockey staff: Bob Rizzo will serve as the Bears Medical Trainer and Ryan Blair will be the team's Equipment Manager.
The Hudson Valley Bears have also announced the following additions to their roster:
Scott Horvath, forward, West Redding, Connecticut
Joe Pelle, forward, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Brett Aimone, defenseman, Toms River, New Jersey
Dan Malloy, defenseman, Stamford, Connecticut
The complete Hudson Valley Bears opening night roster will be released on Friday (October 31st).
Finally, Head Coach Scott Beneke has indicated that defenseman Eric Lind and forward Tom Westfall will serve as Co-Captains for the Bears. Defenseman Gabe Yeung and forward Phil Esposito will be the team's Alternate Captains.
The Hudson Valley Bears begin their inaugural 2008-2009 season this coming Saturday night at Danbury, Connecticut. The Bears home opener, at the Ice Time Sports Complex in Newburgh, New York is Saturday, November 15th vs. the Jersey Rockhoppers at 8:00pm.
