How Tweet It Is for Tulsa at 2011 NBA D-League Showcase

January 12, 2011 - NBA G League (G League) News Release

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS, Jan. 12, 2011 - This was not the kind of tweet Dakota was hoping for at the end of it's game with Tulsa.

With only two seconds left on the shotclock, 11 seconds remaining in the game and Tulsa protecting a 91-90 lead, the 66ers' Tweety Carter took an inbounds pass, turned and buried a three-pointer to extend the lead to 94-90. Moments later, Elijah Millsap hit two free throws to wrap up a 96-92 victory for Tulsa, it's eighth consecutive win.

Cole Aldrich, on assignment from the Oklahoma City Thunder, had a strong game for Tulsa, finishing with 19 points and seven blocks. At some point this season, Aldrich will likely be thrust into a high-pressure situation with the Thunder. Don't expect his demeanor to change all that much.

Whether it's South Padre Island for the NBA D-League Showcase or Oklahoma City for a Thunder game, Aldrich carries the same expression and is comfortable letting his play do the talking. His main challenge to date in his rookie season has been foul trouble, and he picked up five against Dakota, although most came when protecting the rim, which is what he was drafted to do.

Carter finished with 18 points and six assists for Tulsa (16-6). Millsap added 15 points, shooting 9-for-11 from the free throw line. Anthony Goods led Dakota (6-16) for the second straight game with 22 points. Walter Sharpe, the 32nd overall pick of the 2008 NBA Draft, who spent one season in the NBA, added 21 points for the Wizards.

Both teams concluded their two-game slates at the Showcase. Dakota hosts Fort Wayne Friday. Tulsa is at New Mexico, also on Friday.
