Ewing Channels His Padre at 2011 NBA D-League Showcase

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, TEXAS, Jan. 12, 2011 - In a previous incarnation, the Reno Bighorns of the Western Basketball Association were coached by the late Bill Musselman. Today, his son Eric Musselman patrols the sidelines for the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Development league.
Reno's Patrick Ewing Jr. knows a thing or two about carrying on the family tradition. His father, of course, played 17 seasons in the NBA on his way to being enshrined in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. The road hasn't been quite as smooth for junior.
After being selected by the Sacramento Kings in the second round (43rd overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft, Ewing has yet to appear in an NBA game, the victim of trades, roster limitations and poor timing. Nearly three years removed from his last season at Georgetown, Ewing still has the look of a player who could find a niche in the NBA as an energy player at the end of a roster.
Ewing finished with 16 points, seven assists, five rebounds and three steals as the Bighorns (12-8) defeated the Maine Red Claws, 111-02. Jeremy Lin added 21 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Reno.
As the first American born player of Chinese descent to play in the NBA, Lin's footsteps are very much his own, and have already landed him a spot with the Golden State Warriors. He's here at the NBA D-League Showcase on assignment, and quickly showed off why several NBA teams attempted to sign him this summer.
"It's a great opportunity to play here, an opportunity for me to get some playing time, work on the things I need to work on," said Lin, who's appeared in 17 games for the Warriors this season. "We have a good group of guys and it's fun to compete alongside them when I get the opportunity."
Marcus Landry, who appeared in 18 games with the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics in 2009-10, led Reno with 29 points on 12-for-20 shooting. Donald Sloan, who was in training camp with the Sacramento Kings, added 15 points and 10 assists. Paul Harris led Maine (10-12) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Mario West added 17 points for the Red Claws.
Maine concluded it's two-game schedule at this year's NBA D-League Showcase. Reno finishes up tomorrow against Sioux Falls.
