Published on April 13, 2010 under NBA G League (G League) News Release

NEW YORK, April 13, 2010 - Houston Rockets forward Mike Harris was today assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, the Rockets' NBA D-League affiliate, it was announced today. The assignment, Harris' first of his career, is the 40th time an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate during the 2009-10 NBA Development League season. Harris becomes the third Rocket to be assigned to the Vipers this season.

Harris re-joins the Vipers having played 34 games, 31 starts, with the team prior to his call-up to the Rockets on March 24. He averaged a league-best 27.1 points and 10.5 rebounds (third in the NBA D-League) in a Vipers jersey, scoring in double figures in all 34 games, while recording 21 double-doubles. He earned NBA D-League Performer of the Week honors twice and was named January's NBA D-League Player of the Month.

Harris has appeared in eight games for the Rockets this season during two separate call-ups to the team, averaging 3.1 points, 2.5 rebounds and 10.3 minutes. He also earned a call-up to the Washington Wizards earlier in the season. On the year, Harris owns NBA averages of 2.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 7.4 minutes.

A four-year contributor at Rice, Harris averaged 20.6 points and 11.7 rebounds in 31 games during his senior season and was named NABC All-NCAA District 9 first team for his efforts that year. He finished his collegiate career as Rice's all-time leading scorer (2,104 points) and rebounder (1,111 rebounds).

Harris is expected to join the Vipers today and be available when the team hosts the Reno Bighorns in the decisive third game of the first round of the 2010 NBA D-League playoffs. Tip off is set for 8:30 p.m. ET at State Farm Arena in Texas.
