
Houston Stealth Defeat Springfield

The Houston Stealth won its first road game of the 2003 NWBL season with a solid 86-66 win over the Springfield Spirit. The game was played in the Mohegan Sun Arena before a crowd of 3668.
Newly signed Houston Stealth center Michelle Snow wasted no time making her presence (and impact) known for the Stealth. The "Snowmobile" scored 20 points (8 for 9 shooting from the field) and grabbed 14 rebounds.
Five Stealth players scored in double figures. Tamicha "Action" Jackson led Houston with 23 points (7 for 13 from the field including 4 for 6 on three-pointers). Kelley Gibson scored 14 (5 for 7 from the field) while Sheryl Swoopes and Octavia Blue each scored 10. Swoopes also added 13 rebounds.
Springfield was led in scoring by forward Swin Cash's 26 points. Swin connected on 8 of her 17 field goal attempts; however, the rest of the Spirit players only made 15 of 57 field goals. Forward Rebecca Lobo added 11 points and a game-high 16 rebounds. Center Kara Wolters and guard Cindy Blodgett each added 10 points.
The Stealth out shot the Spirit from the field (49.3% to 31.!%) for the game. Houston also made 60 percent (9 for 15) of its three-point attempts while limiting Springfield to 31.6% (6 for 19) from long range.
Houston led 43 to 36 at halftime.
The Stealth (3-6) return to action Monday, March 10, at Autry Court versus the Birmingham Power. Tip-off is at 8pm.
