
Houston mayor Bill White to drop puck on 2004-05 season

Houston, Texas â The Houston Aeros have announced that Houston mayor Bill White will drop the ceremonial puck before the team's Saturday, Oct. 16 home opener versus the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks. Game time is 7:35 p.m.
"The Aeros are extremely happy to have Mayor Bill White on hand as we open our 11th season," said Aeros president Tom Garrity. "Mayor White has done outstanding work in his first months in office, and we hope our fans will join us in showing Houston's appreciation for him on Opening Night, October 16."
"I'm excited about the Houston Aeros' invitation to drop the ceremonial puck on Opening Night," Mayor White said. "The Aeros are a huge part of the Houston sports landscape. We wish the team fast ice and many goals as they begin their second decade of competition."
White is in his first year as Houston's mayor. In his first months in office he has improved traffic through a program to synchronize the city's signal lights; helped attract hundreds of new jobs to Houston; devised and initiated a plan to begin fixing the city's flooding problems; and crafted and passed a fiscal plan that brought the budget into balance and provided tax relief.
