HOUSTON, TX (Monday, August 6, 2012) - The Houston Dynamo youth programs, presented by Statoil, announced today the formation and launch of the Houston Dynamo 8v8 Champions League.

The Houston Dynamo Champions League (HDCL) is a monthly, eight-versus-eight competition for boys and girls in the U10, U11 and U12 age groups, with games held at Houston Amateur Sports Park. The HDCL, set to run from September to December, will feature rules designed to encourage a skillful and attack-minded brand of soccer and the opportunity for players to challenge themselves in a new environment against players who are currently enrolled in the Houston Dynamo youth development system.

"I'm very excited about the launch of the Houston Dynamo 8v8 Champions League and the impact that it will have on player development in the Houston area," said Dynamo director of youth development James Clarkson. "The league will provide a unique platform upon which players will be able to express themselves and their abilities and be successful."

Teams may have a floating roster of 15 players and will be grouped into age-appropriate groups of four. Age group champions will qualify for special opportunities and offers from the Dynamo. The registration fee is $300 per team and can be paid through www.houstonamateursportspark.com .

"The Houston Dynamo 8v8 Champions League has been designed by a professional organization that is passionate about soccer and youth development in Houston," said Adrian Moses, Dynamo soccer programs manager. "It has been designed specifically for our community's youth players and we are launching it for the good and growth of the game in our city. This is an exciting moment for us and for Houston youth soccer."
