Houston Dash Announce 2023 Preseason Roster

HOUSTON - The Houston Dash will have 35 players on its preseason roster to kick off the 2023 campaign, the team announced today.

Head coach Sam Laity will lead his first training session later today at Houston Sports Park (HSP). The entire training session will be open to media to capture photos and video. Additionally, Laity and select Dash players will be available for an in-person media availability at the conclusion of training.

Twenty-three players from last season's playoff team return for the 2023 campaign. The latest player to return for the 2023 season is forward Michaela Abam and midfielder Elizabeth Eddy, who both signed a one-year contract with the team earlier this month. All four of Houston's 2023 NWSL Draft picks have reported to camp and will participate in their first NWSL preseason.

Three players who were on the roster at the end of 2022 changed their last names following offseason weddings; Katie Lind (formerly Naughton), Emily Curran (formerly Ogle) and Annika Creel (formerly Schmidt).

The Dash will have five players start the year on the season ending injury list. Midfielders Kelcie Hedge and Makamae Gomera-Stevens, who suffered season ending injuries in 2022, both agreed to a one-year contract with the team through the 2023 season earlier this year. Players on the SEI list do not count toward the preseason roster tally.

Grace Barbara (GK), Hope Breslin (MF), Chai Cortez (DF), Hailey Davidson (DF), Brionna Halverson (DF), Savannah Madden (GK), Libby Moore (MF), Danielle Murguia (FW), Wasila Diwura-Soala (MF) will participate in Houston's preseason training as non-rostered invitees. Additionally, forward Cameron Tucker, who was claimed off waivers, joins the preseason roster.
