Houston Comets News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets have re-signed veteran center Michelle Snow, it was announced today by Houston Comets Head Coach and General Manager Karleen Thompson. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

"Michelle re-signing was very important to us," said Coach Thompson. "She has been and will continue to be an integral part of the Comets. We believe the players we have assembled around her will allow Michelle to be a consistent, dominant force inside."

A six-season WNBA veteran, Snow was drafted by the Comets in the first round (10th overall) of the 2002 WNBA Draft, and in 2003 earned the WNBA Most Improved Player of the Year honor. An alumni of University of Tennessee, she captured the Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention and was a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's 2002 All-Star Team her senior year. Only the second player to ever dunk during a WNBA game (All-Star 2006), Snow recorded three dunks during her college career, including the first dunk by a woman captured on live television against Illinois on November 25, 2000.

Snow holds career averages of 9.7 points per game, 6.8 rebounds per game and 1.1 blocked shots per game, and counts four playoff appearances during that time (2002, 2003, 2005, 2006).

The Houston Comets tip-off their 2008 home opener against the Minnesota Lynx in Reliant Arena on May 27 at 7:30 p.m. Season tickets and group tickets are available for purchase by calling 713-627-WNBA. Learn more information about the Houston Comets by visiting www.houstoncomets.com.
