Houston Comets announce 2007 regular season schedule

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets will tip off the 2007 regular season on Saturday, May 19 at 9:00 p.m. (CDT) against the Seattle Storm at KeyArena, which was announced by the WNBA as part of the 2007 league schedule. The Comets will then travel to Phoenix for a match up with Diana Taurasi, Cappie Pondexter and the Mercury on May 25.

Overall, Houston will play each Western Conference opponent three or four times and face each Eastern Conference opponent two times.

Highlighting Houston's 17-game home slate will be five Friday games, including a visit by Taj McWilliams-Franklin, Lindsay Whalen and the Connecticut Sun on June 8 starting at 7:30 p.m. In addition, the Comets will host one afternoon weekday game on Thursday, July 12 vs. WNBA Rookie of the Year Seimone Augustus and the Minnesota Lynx at 11 a.m.

Other highlights on Houston's home schedule include a meeting with 2006 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year Tamika Catchings and the Indiana Fever on July 10, as well as a pair of visits by Yolonda Griffith and the Sacramento Monarchs on June 11 and August 10. Finals MVP Deanna Nolan and the defending WNBA Champion Detroit Shock are also scheduled to make their only appearance in Houston on June 2. Lauren Jackson, Sue Bird and the Storm will visit Houston on June 28, as well as July 6 when the Comets will wrap up a four-game home-stand. The 2006 WNBA MVP Lisa Leslie and Western Conference rival Los Angeles Sparks will take on the Comets on June 20 and August 3.
