Aiken Foxhounds News Release

AIKEN, S.C. - The Aiken Foxhounds (38-42, 16-19) got two home runs apiece from Evandy DeLeon and Kelly Hunt as they belted four homers and built an 8-4 lead, but the visiting Bradenton Juice (42-36, 18-16) hit three home runs themselves and rallied for a 12-10 victory Friday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

A back-and-forth affair went to the eighth tied 10-10 when the Juice scored a pair of two-out runs against Aiken reliever Gary Lee (4-4). Lee, who had not given up an earned run at home all season, gave up back-to-back RBI singles to Eddie Kim and Mikela Olsen.

The Hounds left two runners on in the bottom of the eighth, and Lavelle Morgan worked a perfect ninth to end the game and earn his first save of the season.

Leading off the bottom of the first, DeLeon hit a high shot to left to give the Foxhounds a 1-0 lead. One out later Hunt followed suit, drilling the first pitch he saw over the wall in right. Bradley Key added an RBI double as the Hounds built a 3-0 advantage.

DeLeon's second home run, a towering, solo shot to deep left-center field with two outs in the second, made it 4-0 Aiken.

Facing Aiken starter Tim Sweeney, making his first start of the season, Bradenton mounted a two-out rally in the third to tie the game. Al Corbeil hit a two-run home run to right, and Mikela Olsen did the same one batter later.

Hunt reclaimed the lead quickly for the hosts, leading off the bottom of the third with a line-drive home run to center, his league-leading 22 nd of the season. Aiken benefited from two errors to add three more runs.

Bradenton exploded in the top of the fourth inning, scoring six runs on four hits. After the Juice cut the lead to 8-7 and put two runners on against reliever Brian Grivalja, Olsen greeted A.J . Montano with his second home run, a three-run shot to put his team ahead 10-8.

The Foxhounds tied the game in the seventh, scoring a run on a bases loaded walk by Ben Bando and a sacrifice fly by Andy Lane.

DeLeon, Hunt, Garth McKinney, and Bradley Key each had two hits for the Foxhounds. McKinney scored three runs, and Andy Lane and Ben Bando each drove in two runs despite hitless nights.

Olsen led the Juice, going 3-for-4 with the two home runs and six RBI. Herrera had four hits in five at-bats, and Corbeil went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI before being ejected after striking out in the eighth.
