Hounds Make Moves

YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO - Youngstown SteelHounds Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Kevin Kaminski today announced a series of transactions. Forward Brad Patterson has been re-signed by the team. The Hounds also agreed to terms with defenseman Tyler Wooddisse. The team in conjunction with the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League have announced that forward Kevin Jarman has been called up to the AHL franchise. As per team policy terms of the deal will not be disclosed. Defenseman Kriss Grundmanis has been placed on the 14 day injured reserve list.

Patterson, 27, returns to the Hounds after playing the majority of the season in England as a member of the Hull Stingrays. In 48 games with the EIHL franchise the native of Cranbrook, British Columbia recorded seven goals, 18 assists and 84 penalty minutes. He played for the SteelHounds in 2006-07 recording 13 goals and 28 assists in 59 games. The fifth year pro has played 182 of his 269 professional games in the Central Hockey League with New Mexico, Colorado and Wichita accumulating 33 goals and 72 assists.

"Patty brings us leadership and an unbelievable hockey sense," said Kaminski. "I am very pleased that he wanted to come back and that we were able to make this happen because he will make an immediate impact for us."

Tyler Wooddisse, 22, is a rookie defenseman from Brampton, Ontario. He started the season with the Twin City Cyclones of the Southern Professional Hockey League recording five goals and 20 assists in 28 games before moving to the Mississippi Sea Wolves of the ECHL where in five games he recorded one assist. Wooddisse and Patterson will join the team Friday when they visit the Rocky Mountain Rage at 9:05 EST. All SteelHounds games are available on ESPN Radio 1240 and SteelHounds.com.

Kevin Jarman, 22, becomes the sixth SteelHound to be called-up to an AHL franchise and the third called-up to the Syracuse Crunch. The fourth round selection (#103 overall) for Columbus in the 2003 NHL entry draft joins Kirill Starkov who is currently with the Crunch. In 45 games with Youngstown this season Jarman has accumulated 19 goals, 16 assists and 88 penalty minutes. Prior to coming to Youngstown he played four years at UMASS-Amherst accumulating 61 points (21-40) in 135 games.

"Well deserved," said Kaminski. "Kevin has been a solid player for us all season and this is why you play in the CHL, to get your call-ups and make it to the next level and I wish Kevin nothing but the best with Syracuse."

Other SteelHounds that have been called to AHL franchises this season include defenseman Stephen Margeson who is currently with the Lake Erie Monsters. Forward Petr Pohl played two games with Syracuse earlier this season. Defenseman Milan Maslonka played one game with the Albany River Rats and goaltender Andy Franck posted a 9-1-1 record as a member of the Providence Bruins. The Syracuse Crunch are the top affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League.
