Bowling Green Hot Rods News Release
Power Play... The Bowling Green Hot Rods launched three home runs in Thursday's 8-4 win over the Greensboro Grasshoppers at First National Bank Field. The Hot Rods have blasted seven home runs in three games this series. Bowling Green has crushed 35 home runs during July, their second-most in a single month this season.
Flew Ball is For Real... Catcher Nathan Flewelling drove in a game-high three RBI in Thursday's victory, including a two-run home run in the top of the third inning. The Tampa Bay Rays' No. 2 prospect has unleashed 18 home runs this season, tied for sixth-most in the South Atlantic League this season. Flewelling has also worked 62 walks, which also ranks sixth-most in the SAL.
Setting the (Ay)bar High... Infielder Nicandro Aybar delivered three hits in his Bowling Green Hot Rods debut on Wednesday night. The 21-year-old logged 14 multi-hit performances with the Single-A Charleston RiverDogs prior to his callup. Aybar added an RBI single in Thursday's win.
Living On the Basepaths... Infielder Narciso Polanco is batting .358 (19-for-53) over his last 15 games. Polanco has reached base 29 times in that frame, logging a .460 OBP and an .894 OPS. The 21-year-old begins Friday night's game on a five-game hitting streak (.421 AVG, 8-for-19).
Hujsak Nearing History... Outfielder Connor Hujsak launched his 23rd homer of the season on Wednesday night. Hujsak is now tied for the second-most single-season home runs in Bowling Green franchise history, joining 2021's Jordan Qsar and 2023's Carson Williams. Only Heriberto Hernandez (24 in 2022) has hit more home runs as a Hot Rods player in a single campaign.
Junior En Fuego... RHP Junior William delivered his eighth win with 2.0 scoreless innings on Tuesday night. The reliever has now thrown 8.0 consecutive innings without giving up an earned run since July 7 at Hub City. William has logged a 3-1 record and a 0.96 ERA during July.
