Hot Lynx off to Montreal

July 11, 2006 - USL First Division (USL-1)
Toronto Lynx News Release

[TORONTO, ON] Led by USL First Division Player of the Week, Jamie Dodds, the Toronto Lynx head into Montreal this evening for a 7:30 PMl match against the Impact at Claude-Robillard Stadium. The match is the second of four meetings between the two Canadian rivals in 2006. The third-place Impact eked out a hard-fought win 1-nil in Toronto against the Lynx on June 11 at Centennial Park Stadium in Etobicoke. Toronto are currently on a season-high two game undefeated streak and sport a 2-2-1 record in their last five matches, but will be looking for their first road win on the season. A win will move the Lynx even with the Minnesota Thunder in the USL-1 standings and out of the basement. Keeper Theo Zagar, who joined Dodds on the USL-1 Team of the Week, is scheduled to be between the pipes and is undefeated in his past three starts. Midfielders David DiPlacido and Niels Dekker are questionable for the game due to injury.

The Lynx return to the pitch on Sunday evening as they host the Atlanta Silverbacks on the club's annual Mascot Night at 6:00 PM at Centennial Park Stadium when they host corporate groups and a mini soccer scrimmage by various mascots at half time. The Silverbacks are currently deadlocked in fifth place on 21 points with Puerto Rico and Virginia Beach in the extremely competitive USL-1 table, but have only one once away from their sparkling new Silverbacks Stadium home. Atlanta will be playing their second match in two nights, as they host Portland on Saturday evening before traveling to Toronto, so the Lynx hope to capitalize on a fatigued squad. Mascot Night is a favourite of families and their soccer playing kids. Tickets are still available for the game by calling the Lynx Ticket Hotline at 416-251-4625 x 31 or at the Centennial Park Stadium box office two hours prior to kick-off.
