Hopkins poised to join exclusive club

NEW YORK - Los Angeles Avengers WR/LB GREG HOPKINS hopes to become just the fourth AFL player to reach 10,000 receiving yards when the Avengers take on Western Division rival San Jose on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET on NBC.

Hopkins, who is in his 11th AFL season and fifth with Los Angeles, enters the game with 9,858 career receiving yards and needs 142 to reach 10,000. The prestigious 20th Season Historical Committee named Hopkins the 14th greatest player in AFL history in a January announcement of the 20 Greatest Players in League history. Hopkins also recently announced his candidacy for Pennsylvania's State Representative (50th District) election and will appear on the May 16 primary ballot.

Nashville Kats WR/LB CORY FLEMING can also join the 10,000-yard club this season, but is listed as "Out" (concussion) on today's injury report for Nashville's game at Utah on Friday night.
