Honolulu received a go-ahead two-run double from Michael Taylor with two out in the seventh frame, and the Sharks held on for the 4-2 win this afternoon in seven innings at Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu.
Dominic Brown notched a double, triple and two RBIs, while Shintaro Masuda also chipped in two base knocks in support of Honolulu. With the victory, the Sharks improved to a league-best 11-4.
Despite not factoring in the decision, Satoshi Nagai provided the Sharks with another strong start as the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles hurler held the CaneFires to an earned run on four hits and struck out three through five innings. Reliever Roy Merritt (1-1) earned the win after pitching a scoreless sixth inning, and Andy Graham held the lead in the seventh to notch his second save of the season.
West Oahu (7-8) relied on a Miles Durham single for its lone RBI on the afternoon, and the Pittsburgh Pirates farmhand has now driven in a league-high 16 runs.
CaneFires reliever Moises Robles fell to 0-2 after allowing Honolulu's two runs in the seventh inning.
The Sharks move over to Les Murakami Stadium tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. for the first of a three-game set with the Waikiki BeachBoys. West Oahu plays host to North Shore tomorrow evening at Hans L'Orange Park, with first pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
