Blackout Postpones Game Between Honu and BeachBoys
October 16, 2008 - Hawaii Winter Baseball 2 (HWB 2) News Release
The 7 p.m. Hawaii Winter Baseball contest between the North Shore Honu and Waikiki BeachBoys tonight at Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu has been postponed due to a power failure.
The blackout not only affected the field lights and all power sources at the park, but most of the Waipahu community and parts of neighboring Aiea.
League President Hervy Kurisu and HWB West General Manager Merv Yoshimoto made the call to postpone the game after Hawaiian Electric Co. made it clear that power would not be restored in a reasonable amount of time.
At this point, no make-up date has been set.
The squads return to Hans L'Orange tomorrow at 7 p.m. for the finale of a three-game series. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 1420 AM, and streamed live around the world at www.HawaiiWinterBaseball.com.
