May 25, 2007 - Major League Lacrosse (MLL)
Los Angeles Riptide News Release

CARSON, CALIFORNIA - Friday, May 25, 2007 - The Los Angeles Riptide of Major League Lacrosse (MLL), fresh off of their 20-14 season opening victory at Chicago on May 19, will look to stretch their record to 2-0 on the young season when they host the New Jersey Pride in their home opener, set for 7 p.m. at The Home Depot Center in Carson on Sunday night (May 27).

RIPTIDE VS. NEW JERSEY ALL-TIME: The Riptide (1-0) have never faced the Pride (0-1) in a MLL game. Sunday's game will mark the only scheduled meeting for the two teams in the 2007 regular season.

RIPTIDE'S LAST GAME RECAP (MAY 19 AT CHICAGO): The Riptide opened the 2007 regular season with a 20-14 win over the Chicago Machine at Toyota Park in Chicago on Saturday night. Bud Light MVP Andrew Combs (Maryland '01) led the Riptide with five goals, Sean Lindsay (Syracuse '04) led the Riptide with seven points (4 goals, 1 two-point goal, 2 assists and 1 shorthanded goal) and goaltender Mickey Jarboe (Navy '00) finished with 21 saves as Los Angeles rebounded from an early two-goal deficit to post their fourth victory in four all-time games against the Machine.

NEW JERSEY'S LAST GAME RECAP (MAY 18 VS. WASHINGTON): Conor Gill scored the game-winning goal with 8:08 remaining in overtime as the Washington Bayhawks edged New Jersey 11-10 at Yurcak Field on Friday night. The Pride were led by Liam Banks, who scored four goals and added one assist in the loss.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: With a win on Sunday night, the Riptide would go two games above .500 for the first time in team history...The Riptide opened the 2006 season (their first in the MLL) with a record of 0-3...The Riptide matched a franchise high for most goals in one game by totaling 20 goals at Chicago last weekend...New Jersey's Scott Urick needs just six more goals to become the third player in MLL history to reach 200 career goals...Urick has led the Pride in scoring in each of the two previous seasons, totaling 70 goals and 11 assists during that span.
