October 16, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS) News Release
Over 34 matches in the 2019 Major League Soccer season, teams have battled for the right to play host to games in the Audi 2019 MLS Cup Playoffs by gaining as high a seed as possible. Now the time has come to parlay that advantage into a possible trip to MLS Cup.
Of the eight teams that are guaranteed of hosting games in Round 1 and the Conference Semifinals (the two regular season conference winners, and the second-place through fourth-place finishers in each conference), seven appear in the best home-field records over the course of the 2019 season.
Four teams - top seeds Los Angeles Football Club and New York City FC, along with Minnesota United FC and FC Dallas - have lost just one game on their home grounds this season. The four teams with just a single home loss matches the most in a season in MLS history (also occurring in 2017).
