Hitmen Open Camp Underway at West Meadows

June 18, 2010 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Chicago Hitmen News Release

Rolling Meadows, Illinois - Today marked the beginning of the Chicago Hitmen's second tryout camp. May 14th at the International Ice Center in Romeoville, IL; team President Mark Hammersmith dropped the puck on a new era for the Hitmen, as the team held its first ever predraft tryout camp for their NAHL roster. There were 114 players assembled for that event. Every player drafted by the Hitmen in this years NAHL draft participated at that camp.

This weekends tryout event has 5 scrimmage teams, totaling 90 players, all hoping to impress Hitmen hockey staff, earn a chance to play in the all-star game at the end of the day Saturday and eventually receive an invite to the final training camp which begins on July 30th. Thirty four players will be selected and suit up for the final game which starts at 4: 30pm Saturday. Players at this weekend's tryout are also being considered for the Hitmen's CSHL and GLJHL level rosters as well.

Once the final roster is set after the final camp, many players will need homes. If you think you may be able to help a young man pursue his dream of playing in the NAHL by being a billet family, go to chicagohitmenhockey.com and click on the "housing" tab.
