History made at ABA Summer Pro League

Published on August 17, 2005 under American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release

Westchester, CA. While the first annual Southern California ABA Summer Pro League will become history in just a few days, yesterday's games were landmark. Combining for 579 points in just 2 games, the ABASPL teams are burning up the nets. This kind of scoring production exceeds the ABA 2004-2005 playoff game's point production. If this is any indication, the 2005-2006 regular season just can't be missed. It just gets better. With the summer league coming to an end, you'd think things would cool - no so. Players are no longer stepping up their game, they are leaping, running and flying for the chance to play this fast-paced, full court brand of Pro Basketball for the 2005-2006 season.

Here's what happened yesterday. Pasadena Express snapped 9 Sports' winning streak at 5 with a 161-152 win. Inglewood Cobras thumped the OC Buzz 157-119. If you missed these games, you are missing history in the making. And the summer league continues everyday thru August 20th.

Basketball players at the ABASPL are vying for a place in professional basketball. Some have played professionally and some have not. Some have played in college and some have not. There's no question that all are dedicated to fulfilling their dreams and passion - professional basketball. The team coaches and owners have put together an impressive list of more than 100 players who passed through spring and summer tryout camps, last year's ABA teams, and caught the eye of the player personnel interested in creating the best ABA pro teams for the 2005-2006 season. Remember these names - Clay, Banks, Diamond, Jones, Cole, Gil, Takuya, Patrick, Terryl, Jay, Strickland, Chioke, Rambo, Cameria, Burr, Sheppard, Spillers, Slider, Summerall, Jae-Jun, Davo, Blunt, Carcuro, Freymond, Glossen, Cramer, Ivan, Slaughter, Profit, Hunt, Dustin, Corey, Abrams, Kendrick, Taron, Renee, Holmes, Ramel, Dion and Herb - just to name a few.

Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
